Situated on the Mediterranean Sea in the northeastern region of Sinai, approximately 150 kilometers from East Port-Said, Al Arish Port holds strategic significance. Positioned at Latitude 31°09’ North and Longitude 33°49’ East, the port has undergone development since 1987 to enhance its capabilities in handling dry-bulk cargo, general cargo, and export agricultural products. Additionally, it offers various maritime services and functions as a fishing harbor.
Al Arish Port comprises a dry bulk terminal, a berth spanning 242 meters for dry bulk and general cargo handling, and a second berth designated for service boats with a water depth of 4 meters. Mooring facilities are available for fishing vessels via a 60-meter-long jetty. The port covers an area of approximately 40 acres, including 56,000 square meters utilized for open storage of dry bulk commodities. Furthermore, two sheds, totaling 1,500 square meters, provide storage for goods sensitive to sunlight and weather. Ongoing development works are set to expand the port’s total area to 65,000 square meters, with a key wall extending 369 meters. Notably, the port handles around 1.2 million tons of general cargo annually. Navigational aspects include a 270-meter-long and 100-meter-wide access channel, with water depths ranging from 9 to 11 meters. Pilotage by the Port Authority’s pilots is mandatory, facilitated by two buoys for navigational assistance. The port’s infrastructure includes a dry bulk terminal with two berths, one of which is utilized for loading and unloading general cargo commodities. Additionally, the general cargo terminal features a single berth, with half of its capacity dedicated to handling dry bulk commodities.
